Soochan Ahn, Ph.D.
Dean of the Graduate School of Journalism
Soochan Ahn earned his B.A. and M.A. in Sociology and a Ph.D. in Journalism from Korea University.
He served as Editor-in-Chief of Hankyoreh21 and held key editorial positions at The Hankyoreh> including head of the city desk, head of the investigative reporting team, Future Life editor, and director of the Media Lab.
He also served as a special committee member of the Korea Communications Standards Commission and as a member of the Public Evaluation Committee of Yonhap News Agency.
He is the author of <Journalist, That Charming Name>, <Beyond Straight News to Narrative>, and <A Journalist Tired of the News>, and a co-author of <Topography of Journalism>, <4,000 Won Life>, and <How I Write>.aphy of Journalism>, <4,000 Won Life>, and <How I Write>.
He received the Korean Journalist Award (2010), the Democratic Press Award (2010), the Nogun-ri Peace Prize in Journalism (2011), and the Academic Honor Award in Publications from the Korean Society for Journalism and Communication Studies (2019).

EunRyung Chong, Ph.D.
Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Journalism
EunRyung Chong received her B.A. in Anthropology from Seoul National University, her M.A. in Journalism from Yonsei University Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and her Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Maryland.
She worked as a journalist at The Dong-A Ilbo, serving as Deputy Chief of both the Society and Culture Desks. She also served as a Commissioner of the Press Arbitration Commission of Korea.
She is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and a member of the International Advisory Committee for Singapore’s Online Trust and Safety (OTS) Research Programme. She formerly served as Director of the SNU FactCheck Center at Seoul National University's Institute of Communication Research.
She received the Kwanhun Press Award and the Emerging Scholar Award for an Outstanding Paper published in <Media Economics and Culture>.
She is the author of <Truth: Is It Still a Principle of Journalism?> and <If You Are Well, I Am Well Too>, and a co-author of <Fact-Check Journalism>, <Misinformation and Fact-Check Journalism>, and <Checklist for Field Reporters>.

Jeong-im Jae, Ph.D.
Professor
Jeong-im Jae earned a B.A. in Sociology from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in Business Administration.
She worked as a reporter at Kyunghyang Shinmun and served as Head of the Economic Policy Team at Kookmin Ilbo. She has written columns for Kyunghyang Shinmun, Hankook Ilbo, and The Hankyoreh, and has served as an economic commentator for KBS and MBC.
She hosted <Jae’s Current Affairs Talk Show: Power> on SBS CNBC. She has served as a commissioner of the Press Arbitration Commission, a member of the Financial Development Review Committee, a member of the Internet Election News Deliberation Committee, and a member of the KBS Management Evaluation Committee. She has also served as Chair of the Audience Rights Committee of Yonhap News Agency, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Hankyoreh, and Chair of the Open Editorial Board of the Hankyoreh. She currently serves as an outside director of the Hankyoreh.
She is the author of <The Two Faces of Business News>, <Writing and Reporting Business News> and <Beyond the Neighborhood Punching Bag Economy>. She has received a commendation from the Minister of Education of the Republic of Korea.
She served as Dean of the Semyung Graduate School of Journalism from July 1, 2019, to December 31, 2025.

Sang-jun Lee, Ph.D.
Professor
Sang-jun Lee is a Professor in the College of Liberal Arts and the Director of the Data Science Interdisciplinary Program at Semyung University. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Dongguk University.
Throughout his career, he has taught various high-profile courses, including 'Let's Talk Data' for the Korean Massive Open Online Course (K-MOOC), 'Big Data Infographics' for the Korea Consortium of Universities Online (KCU), and 'Statistical Thinking' for the Chungbuk PRIDE Shared University.
He holds professional certifications as a Microsoft Certified Instructor, Adobe Certified Instructor, ICDL Certified Instructor, and SAS Certified Programmer.

Jung-yong Park, M.A.
Professor
Jung-yong Park earned a B.A. in Sociology and an M.A. in Journalism from Sungkyunkwan University.
He worked as a producer at KBS, where he directed <The World Is Now>, <Sunday Special>, <Documentary 3 Days>, and <Documentary Insight>. He also produced <Current Affairs Tonight>, <Tracking 60 Minutes>, and <Sunday Diagnosis>.
He served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Communication at Seoul National University and as a juror for the documentary category of the International Emmy Awards.
He received the Producers Award from the Korea PD Association, the Grand Prize of Broadcasting Program 21, the Silver Award in the Documentary: Society and History category at the New York Festivals, and a Commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

Jang-Won Lim, M.A.
Professor
Jang-Won Lim obtained a B.A. in Economics from Seoul National University and an M.A. from the Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Hanyang University.
He began his career as a journalist at KBS and later served as a correspondent in New York, Head of Digital News, Head of the Economics Desk, Head of the Current Affairs Production Bureau, Head of the Integrated Newsroom, and Head of the Review Bureau.
He was the anchor of <News 9 (Weekend)>, <News 12> and <Economic Outlook>.
He received the Korean Journalist of the Year Award, the Broadcasting Journalists Club Reporting Award, the Excellence in Language Reporting Award, and the Monthly Award for Outstanding Journalism from the Citizens’ Coalition for Democratic Media, among others.
He has served as Chair of the News Partnership Evaluation Committee, a member of the Election Broadcasting Deliberation Committee, and a member of the Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC).
He is the author of <TV News Reporting and Production Practice>.

Seog-tae Shim, Ph.D.
Specially Appointed Professor
Seog-tae Shim earned a bachelor degree from Seoul National University College of Law, a Master of Law degree from Sogang University, an LL.M. from Indiana University School of Law, and a Ph.D. from Sogang University.
He served as a reporter at SBS, and later worked as head of the legal affairs team, head of the new media division, vice-president for news department, and finally, an editorial commentator. He also served as an adjunct professor at Sogang University School of Law and is a member of the New York State Bar.
He served as a member of the Supreme Court Sentencing Commission and as president of the Korean Society of Media Law. He is also serving as an senior advisor and foreign lawyer at Shin&Kim, LLC.
He received the News Reporting Award from the Broadcasting Journalists Club, the Best Program of the Year Award from the Broadcasting Commission, and the Chul-woo Press Law Award from the Korean Society of Media Law, Ethics and Policy, as well as the Culture Merit Medal from Korean government.
He is the author of <Uncomfortable News>, <Essay on Media Ethics>, and <Understanding Media Law>, and a co-author of<Newly Written Broadcast Journalism> and <Understanding Public Broadcasting>.

Yong-jin Kim, Ph.D.

Yong-jin Kim is the CEO of the Newstapa.
He graduated from Pusan National University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in journalism from Dong-A University.
He was a visiting scholar at the University of Missouri School of Journalism and the IRE in the U.S.
He worked as a reporter at KBS, where he served as head of the Investigative Report Team.
He lectured on investigative reports at the Korea Press Foundation and wrote the book <They Know, We Don't>.

Min-sik Kim, M.A.
Specially Appointed Professor
Min-sik Kim earned a B.S. in Resource Engineering from Hanyang University and an M.A. in Translation and Interpretation from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
He previously worked as a variety show and drama producer at MBC, directing programs such as <Look!>, <Sunday Sunday Night>, <New Nonstop>, <Queen of Housewives>, and <Queen’s Flower>.
He received the Baeksang Arts Award for Best New Director and the Baeksang Arts Award for Best Director.
He hosts <Kkokko-doc with Min-sik Kim> on the YouTube channel ‘Good Life’.
